Free Fall

Free Fall

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer

Sleeping water gently sways, heaven’s ceiling hugs low the banks.

A ray of sun spots light a loon, while tender reeds also move.

Scented air around me swirls, honeysuckle and pine cones, nectar of the woods.

My silent paddle disturbs fine glass, rippling dreams without a splash

a falling cloud blurs out the shore and on leaning elbows, I long for more.

Tendrils of mist  awake from rest and meet the clouds by the water’s edge.

My soul free falls amongst the calm and I rejoice in soul surfing  for another hour.

Good to find places where we can surf the beautiful places. I use meditation to find peace and sleep. Wonderful poetry dear Cherrie. Happy Thanksgiving.

Cherrie,
Thoreou has nothing on you. Your words painted a peaceful picture. it calmed my soul. I need to carry your poem in my wallet and when my Polish temper arises, call timeout and read your beautiful words. Thank you for your moving words.

I will be lifetime member!
Theres nothing like being close to the water before the other boats come out and start to spoil the morning. I love that sudden splash of a large mouth bass close to the bow. It can startle you and make you laugh at the sudden joy of it all. Wonderful poem, Cherrie. CD

I love kayaking... whitewater is my favorite but the feeling of the glide on a calm water in the early morning can be just as exhilarating I love that feeling when the water and the sky meet and you sense a haze in the boundary. these are very, Lovely, lines... Mon Cherrie!!

I have been in a canoe when moonbeams appeared
through the trees. I know the peace of "waking from rest
on the waters edge". A lovely poem and one of your best.

This is one of my favorites of yours that I've read so far & probably becuz your nature imagery & word choices are popping with fresh originality, even tho you describe a scene that feels so familiar. You do a great back-and-forth between touching on imagery for all the senses, interspersed with more dynamic passages where you brightly personify various natural aspects (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Such beautiful thoughts written gently and in an extraordinary way: lovingly. Would kayak alongside you for that peaceful state of mind, inner vision, able to more fully understand the all around. Tis Bliss personified start to finish... meter perfect too. May I say, 'one of your many best'?

Hi Cheery... Cheesy... Chesty.... Cherrie. Bloody predunctive toast, I mean predictive text!
This should be the opening track on an album called "now that's what I call blissed out chill." a poetic meditation we could all do well to visit more often. Go on, do an audio version 😀
