When you've written yourself into a alley, start writing short bullet points of " then what " then pick the most outlandish one that works and begin again.

I live in an alley:) so i will have to invert the exercise to.... so your in an open field tho i got to admit on a few occasions I did hate that feeling when somebody runs up behind me but thankfully I am sufficiently big that most people don't bother me! but as i ponder your advice I imagine this is the spot that many writers do the ole dream sequence or flashback trick i love the seeds you plant in my mind

This is amazing! I've never been in an alley (stories in my mind flow constantly), so I wouldn't have thought about this. This would be something good to do, even if you aren't in an alley. Sometimes we think we know where a story is going & maybe we need to re-examine our way a little . . . the part I love about your advice is "pick the most outlandish" (I hate boring predictable storylines!) yes, what you just said he said also. Sometimes we will write the simple ending (which is a huge let down) so, go for the big pay off by listing other options, and work for it. Giving the reader a big pay off.
