The drive by

The drive by

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer

Am I a bystander?

Yes sir,
I believe I am.

I was taking in the evenings light.

Without out a care, and maybe a little tight.

Just ease'n down the Cypress lane...

When

Out of thin air a writer sprang.

Writing words just for fun.

He read to me and forced applause.

Then wanted ratings and more cheer.

Yes, a Poet leapt out onto my path.

Holding both pen and pad.

his loquacious speech held command.

It was a drive by monologue there is no doubt.

So, proceed with caution or you too will be caught.

It sounds like a hit and run lol! There are so many here who seek review but never review themselves. Some sent unsolicited emails asking for reviews. We all enjoy reviews but it is the complete package of reviewing, being reviewed critically and interacting with fellow writers that makes the cafe special. Well it sure as hell aint the coffee! I am still waiting to be served after seven years. Like this piece and it's construction as it mirrors an RTA report by a witness.

C,
A clever idea expressed here! A drive by poetry assault. As to monologues . . . if I get your reference, it happens all to often on this site . . . sorry to say!

I thought of the old silly 70's song, the streak, and decided to use that backdrop for a poem theme... read more
Great piece, Cherrie, we have all been bitten by the bite, we all seek acceptance and compliments needing others views to feel justified and real, we are not worthy until some one else tells us so, The drive by monologue has had his say,

No one understands the writer like another writer
:)
Very nice. I write to write what I am feeling or about my past. I don't care about being famous or whatnot, I usually take down a poem of mine after a few days of being there.

"It was a drive-by monologue there is no doubt..." What a clever piece, Cherrie! Much applause to your muse.

Sucker!!!!!!!! I always love it when someone tells me they want to read my writing I always warn them of the folly of asking a writer if they wish to share... its like opening the floodgate of a damn poor fools they are. they will learn eventually to not be victims of such heinous acts we should form a support group for them:)

A true writer always writes for themselves not for approval of others... if we let that happen our writing become hollow in our soul.

ahahahaha well...thanks for the warning Cherrie! we have a couple of neighbors who are just that way .. one could spend all the time in the world with them .. get to know their "stories" by rote .. and they would never know one thing about you ... its a malady ... not uncommon ... a pity eh!? i like your light hearted poke at the bloke ..or young lady ...whichever the case

... lol !!!
'.. .. his loquacious speech held command. - It was a drive by monologue there is no doubt. - So, proceed with caution or you too will be caught. '

Good morning. Cherrie. As always you put thoughts in writing without over- or understating your personal feelings. You have such a keen way of looking at the modus operandi of some in here - they, making demands, rarely active in return, etc.!!! Of course, time is limited for many, family or work commitments, health etc. being at the fore.. but.. to receive is to give. Also noticed a simmering of rebellion between certain groups: a case of 'I'm right, you're wrong, stay on your side of the wall.. or else!' Fun, huh!

Many thanks as ever for your fine writing.. the way it reads aloud. Plus a quick mind that goes further than the end of your nose. Thank you for sharing.. xl

Oh i hear ya on this one, Cherrie...
Some just write for attention...hey, look at me.
I think the real artists are the ones who are in it for the process, and for the thrill of creating something with words.
