Ah, fables. a favorite genre for both adults and children. You dived into the forest directly and introduced us to a character and that pulled me in at the spot. I read the short introduction with my brother and we liked this chapter. A a human, I learn from animals sometimes more than I can learn from humans. Plus, they are more fun to follow in a story or even in the wild. So many lessons and exciting happenings waiting for the young wolf. What happened to Ella after the jump? We would love to know more!
We are going to work on that today. I promised I wouldn't edit anything.

This story and the collaboration you and your granddaughter have created is truly 'luverly'. Cherrie.
Children have the most glorious imaginations, free of restraints, often surreal and way, way 'out there'! Have a feeling this story might have a moral to it? There's often a purity in your style; a way of setting your words without flowery fiddling, just good old fashioned but believable method. Love it, truly do!
Thank you Emma. We had spelling words last night so maybe tonight we will work on it again.

She knows where she wants the next part to go.
She hasn't got the idea of weaving the thoughts together. Instead of just listing facts. That ability will come as she sees the effect each sentence has.
I try and keep it simple and keep telling her to let it move in her mind like real life.
She's written poems before and is good at that. We'll see if she likes the story telling process?
I wonder how much of the idea is your granddaughter's and how much is born from the act of reciting it to her (I think that thought and emotion must have crossed your mind while working with her?)
Either way, your storytelling is surely spectacular. Concise but precise.
I'm really interested to see what happens to Ella hereafter!

She'll be thrilled you left a review.
he he... i love it :) my grand daughter of whom just turned four last week loves to tell me stories too. She makes everyone else read them to her... but to me she takes a book and tells me a story... owing i'm sure to her keen observation of my intelligence level no doubt! I think she is a natural poet the last story became a song "bottle in the rain" and her last one resulted in the bottle... falling down the drain. I look forward to reading how poor Ella is doing with her injured paw!

As she gets older the two of you will just have more fun creating.
A super story and so much more... kids and grown ups are gonna snuggle up and enjoy these words over their cocoa, before bed... this is gonna be a great collab, I'm sure..... Neville

Keeping my hands off the stirring wheel, is not that easy.
I keep reminding her: it shouldn't sound like a phone call or a list of facts, but a mental adventure.
Anyway after school today I promised to work on chapter two.

Please give Pyten my best wishes. Will be waiting to read the next chapter.
I think it is so cool that you are writing a story with your granddaughter...sharing your love for writing.
I am pulling for Ella....and actually for Ella and Brutus to end up becoming friends.

I had her pick main character, the villain, the mood (fear and lonely)
& tempo (she chose action) and location.
Ask her to let it play out like a movie.
I tried to keep her on task with each paragraph. She had a blast somehow it wore me out.

I'm kinda pulling for them to be friends too. We're just a couple of softies.
I am a published poet and love poetry. After a lifetime of country living, I'm making a move back to town. I find my surroundings a great inspiration to me. I also have two books on Amazon Kindle: .. more..
