Once Upon A Moonless Night

Once Upon A Moonless Night

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer
"

The sneaky wind

"

Once upon a moonless night darkened clouds filled up the sky.

An eastern breeze swept a path, so the moon could see the water’s edge.

Silvery beams on the water danced, and the little breeze laid down her head.

Night now full the day complete so too the moon laid low to sleep.

The morning sun began to climb but a dreary rain refused her light.

The eastern wind aired a boast. “How fair a light the moon doth hold.”

A jealous sun blazed so bright and dried the day, then fell the night.

Once again, the moon waxed bold and asked the wind, why a lie was told.

Her only defense she whispered low, “I’m tired of the rain and hate the snow.

Wonderful use of words and thoughts. I enjoyed the description. Made me see and feel the desire to feel the sun. Here in Michigan, can go thirty days without beloved sun. Thank you Cherrie for sharing the amazing poetry.

Thank you so much my friend
Cherrie, fellow lover of the natural environment. Lovely imagery you have given your readers, plus personification, all of which work well together in your lines. A lovely read.

The personification in this poem is wonderful. It is obvious you love all parts of nature. Soft words...like a lullaby. I really enjoyed this one, Cherrie. Lydi**

I often think of the verse in the bible that says if we don't praise him the rocks will cry out.

Reminded me of a bedtime story (n a good way).

The only correction I'd see is...

Once upon a moonless night a darkened clouds filled up the sky.

Remove the 'a' and put a comma...

Once upon a moonless night, darkened clouds filled up the sky.

Dark and dreary here too. Its only 3pm and it will be dark in an hour. I wouldnt mind if I could see that moonlight you spoke of, but little miss breeze will have a job on her hands shifting this lot of cloud :)
