Hmmmm, Let's Go

Hmmmm, Let's Go

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer
"

summertime

"

Hmmmm, come on baby let’s go

We’ll drive to the end of that old dirt road

Where you and I use to skip stones

We’ll pop-a-top and slow dance

With the setting sun, skinny dip.

Come on.

The summer sun will set the tone

As we blaze down that old dirt road.

Hmmmm, come on baby let’s go

There’s nowhere I’d rather be

Scoot on over and sit with me

As the music plays we’ll reminisce.

Let’s relive that first kiss.

Hmmmm, let’s go.

how could I not read a poem with such an enticing title ;) thank you for your spark, Cherrie Palmer! .. such wonderful youthful memories ignited and brought to life...both real and false :)) I never owned a car that had any room in it to "Scoot on over..." ... until I took this ride... eagerly I must confess.... in "Hmmmm, Let's Go" ... the language fits the 50s and 60s says i .. fine story telling .. very enjoyable read for me ma'am! filled in as many details as I wanted to and hung them on your strong framework and guiding lines ... I appreciate this up-lifting poem this morning .. kinda needed it ;)

Originally I tried to type the poem in a "S" like a road but that never looked like I wanted.

Yes, I agree nothing better
that old dirt road
The long hot, dusty, barbed-wire fence lined, long dry grass growing, blue sky burning, windows wide open, engine screamin, music playin, pot holed dirt road to the ol' swimmin hole.
I'll take two!!

Aw, Cherrie!
I thought you'd forgotten. ; )
You sure brought back to life some sweet memories, with all the enjoyment, arousals, and tender moments shared so long ago.
Your version makes all those moments sound so good, I wish it could have been You I shared them with.
"Scoot on over and 'set' with me" … could you have meant "sit", or might you have had in mind, "Scoot on over and 'pair' with me"? And, who doesn't love a romantic skinny-dip in a hot summer's twilight.
Ahhh, such scenery, imagery, emotion, and warming sentimentality of sensations that wrap one up in the sheer beauty and embrace of your poetic ambience … "hmmmm, let's go!"

Simply beautiful poeting, dear poetess!
Obviously, you've stolen-in and swept me away, Cherrie …
and, for it, I hug you happily! ⁓ Richard ; )))

butting in ;} i like "set" ... its colloquial ... as in "set a spell" :)
Sounds like a real fun time..a warm cozy adventure to spend with your significant other..

Nice Work Cherrie

Thanks Fran, new adventures are fun but reliving memories can be magical
There comes a time when a couple do need to reinvest in the courtship of one another.
This sounds like good, warm fun, Cherrie.
