Third Grade Tid Bit

A Story by Cherrie Palmer
"

playground humor and no one was sent home for fighting or stayed mad at each other, of course the two of them never dated either but that's another story entirely

"

Debbie K. taught us all with one mighty upper-cut never place your thumb inside your fist.  For as she did she broke poor young Bernard B. nose and said thumb with one swing; and after all these years  I still smile when I think of it.

My Dear Writing Friend,
This brought back memories. I was taught you never hit a girl; I still stand by that value today. I remember a woman will just call Jill for today. She felt I should not date other ladies, I did not even know we were officially dating. She beat the hell out of me, as I would not hit back, after she found out I’d been on a date with her friend. Later with two black eyes I ask her what that was all about, she said we were now an official couple. I guess I was a slow learner. Were still friends to this very day, but I’d be terrified to date her ever again.
Your poem made me smile, well written, and a bringer of forgotten memories.

What an absolute delight to read & what an important lesson. This took me back to those halcyon days when my own father took me to one side and explained the very important principle of where to place one's thumb without dislocating or fracturing anything other than the target.... Thank you, N
