Beauty Within a Sleeping BeastA Poem by CherieLamourPoem written for a heartbroken wife.
As you lay in bed quietly sleeping, The sound of your breath next to me, I stare into your beautiful face. Restful... peacefully dreaming, There on a pillow… with eyes closed tight. A love I pledge allegiance. Is it you… the man I once knew? The man I vowed forever? I lay awake in wonder… What happened then? Are you even him? Or was it always just a fantasy? Did I see you then? As I know you now. Memories that shudder and shake, Tormented past of words that last, Burnt into our hearts, And sealed to our lips we cursed. Where is the reality within the dream? The state between what is truth and
false? A beautiful memory still beats and
lingers, Fading intertwined amongst fear and
anguish. The beauty in the beast that sleeps Between my sheets unfurled. The past is still alive and well The good unfused with trouble. The rose that cuts me with its thorns Love should not make one bleed. How can I let myself go on? Knowing that you might wake again? © 2015 CherieLamourReviews
