'The reality'A Story by Cheng Yew,Chewtry your best to deduce the loaded meaning of this thingy^^It was both a nightmare and a memory………….. I was limping onwards to the cavity of my father’s tomb beneath the waning moon tottering its shape in the cloudless heavens when the knell of her was rung by the seraph who placed himself as the deceiptive janitor who took care of the servants who enjoyed deceiving summits in the shadow of illusion. I might have had only a few minutes left before the horror filled with the dirt of sinful lies. Frightful tempest started gathering in the sky before there had been no wind of terror. ‘I don’t have all the time in the world to walk with a labored.’ I told myself. Thunder roared like the wilderness of temptation that tried to fob me off with the fear enveloped the fiery sights of hers. ‘You shall fall after seeing the pride of your own kinsman.’The voice of voiceless invited by the thunder. The bell of extinction rang again and it was accompanied by the rising crescendo of gaudy love she had craved for from the icy-hearts dwelled in the isle of construction. Lightning flashed with the exasperating palpitations. ‘This is the welcoming ceremony for the arrival of yours.’ The voice of the voiceless whispered to me. ‘You shall let this instinct bring you there before it ends tonight.’ I continued to walk with jerky movement. There it was,the tombstone of his was not afar from my sights but ahead of me was a druid holding a gasoline can with the laughter of deception.’If you run towards me,I’ll burn everything into ashes.’He vowed. ‘You have these rules, and you think they will save you.’ ‘ I have one rule.’ ‘Then that’s the one you ‘ll have to break. To save his tomb and his empty flesh.’ A casket was carried by his followers. ‘I’ll give you one more chance.’ He opened the coffin and hoisted up the mortal remains of the golden heart. ‘In these few days of darkness,I’ll splash the gasoline onto his body and……… if you decide not to accord with my rule.’ But the worst was still ahead. The worst was the devil’s favourite demon threw a flick knife into my chest. He came towards me and thrust the knife with no rue.He stared into my eyes with fiery sights. ‘You are on the verge of becoming the phony of your own faith, aren’t you?’ I was in the mist of numbness and I could not wrestler with him with my strength. He pulled the sharp object out of my chest and thrust it into my mouth and pushed it against my cheek. ‘What art thou going to do?’He giggled. He moved the dagger quickly and my blood gurgled and I fell on the muddy ground. The acolytes lifted up my empty shell and shoved it into the hole of pitch black darkness of my father’s tomb. Dirt after dirt,I gazed at it as it fell on my body before flickering my eyes and slept eternally with plight of love.
My teacher was counting the seconds. Ten, nine, eight………. Almost time time……. Five, four, three, two…. The ten small, sticky bombs had launched onto the wall exploded simultaneously, rending still, glass, cerment and she roared at me with the exasperation of lioness resurrected me from the death of my dream. ‘What are you doing,Mr. Chew?’ She asked with a chilling tune. ‘I’m doing my revision whole-heartedly in my dream. I’ve learnt a lot because practice makes perfect and now I’ve a more in-depth comprehension of the lesson imparted- by an angelic being named Jazreel Chin.’ I winked at her. ‘Well, poor soul,I need to call your parents so as to talk to them about how their prince behaves in the class and you should be ready as they might give you a reward you are looking forward to accept with a beatific smile.’ She snickered. ‘There are opportunities and I’ll give one of them to you . I’ll let you toss a coin if it’s heads, you are safe; If it’s tails, you are gone. What do you think about it,little boy?Do you have the guts to accept it or…….?’Although a sly expression came over her face, she camouflaged it with her lovely smile. I removed the golden coin of luckiness from my hip pocket, ’I’ll accept this chance like a brave warrior who fears nothing especially something that is a matter of life and death.Teacher, this is my life.’I tossed the coin to her.She caught it and looked:Heads. Without raising her eyebrows,I said, ‘I’m not leaving anything to a chance. You should turn the coin over.’ She turned it and the reverse side of coin was heads, too. ‘You make your own luck.’She muttered. Within a minute, I walked out from the classroom and walked towards the entrance of the school with the urge to laugh euphorically. Out of the blue,I got a hasty call from Shiko Xin.’Your parents were……….murdered by a mugger.’ ‘Stop fooling with your sense of black humor! It infuriates me!’ I warned. ‘I must apologise for what has transpired but this is no laughing matter. Mrs.and Mr.Danson…. they are dead.’ I was flabbergasted and my heart was palpitating with hopelessness. In the silence of sadness, with tumultuous motion I was a rushing water that rushed onwards to nowhere in this clime beneath the hanging clouds. I was crippled emotionally .My cell phone rang again and I received a message from an anonymous guy. ‘The arms that enfolded you in the well of fear are gone now.Soon, you will be forlorn in the cold and dark well where the monstrosities will flap around you and leave a scar on your memory .’ Whoever I was, whatever I might have become-vanished without a trace from the surface of the earth. It heralded the torrential bloodshed of my life. I continued to walk half-heartedly with a shell that was soulless. The transformation had begun with the death of my parents. The folks were gone, the winged seraphs of graciousness were found no more in the period of my dark ages. Two faces were the the beings I met daily in this destructive land of truthfulness. I had no help from others in the forest of construction where the phonies lived peacefully. Fobbing of with pride was the obsession here. Every dawn and dusk I fought my way to survive in the cold, dark vale. The desire to live within the heart of gold here was a Chimera. Even now, daily, more and more, the hair of vengeance was growing upon my head. I failed to prosecute the mugger who took away my parents’ souls and the incognito guy who was the master of the killing. From the superior of bliss to the vigilante of lies, I walked through the trodden pathways of joy where the city dwellers loved. © 2011 Cheng Yew,ChewReviews
