Where Are You My Darling?

Where Are You My Darling?

A Poem by Chemistry
"

Searching for the love of my life

"

Where Are You My Darling?

I first saw you standing
There at the head of the class
Was It love you were handing?
No, A 5th grade test I did pass

Was I seeing double at Jr. High?
One was naughty one was nice
Family moved I didn’t say bye
The first heart pain was my price.

Were you my high school brunette?
Four year sweethearts & inseparable
College divided us weren’t ready yet
Heart hurt worst almost irreparable

I married you for better for worse
Twenty- five years it took to find out
That my Love was taken in a hearse
Sadly smoking kills without a doubt

I had mourned the next five years
Now have resumed my search for you
Was it you that help me through the tears?
Or the many dance partners I have no clue

Alas God has placed you in my path
A woman that needs me as much as I do her
Every thing adds up, I know, I did the math
My heart is racing everythings now a blur

Her eyes, her smile, her tender ways
Her passion, her kindness, her loving heart
Everything about her sets my heart ablaze.
What I love about her most is she’s smart

I can’t get her off my mind
My beautiful masterpiece to cover
So Perfect I will never find
Am I between a friend and a lover?

Where Are You My Darling?
Don’t my tears fall like thunder?
My little bird my little starling
It must be you, is it you? I wonder
Please come find me I am so alone
I have suffered from broken hearts
And other pains that made me moan
The agony without you tops the charts

Where Are You My Darling?

Excellent piece of poetry, a definite pleasure to read your work.

Pros: Good cadence; clear point; positive attempt at illustrative language
Cons: While a clear point is eluded to, the format to convey it seemed to bounce randomly from one place to another, disrupting the ebb and flow; a bit lengthy given the fairly one dimensional language; occasionally confusing tense usage *referring to the girl directly for most of the piece, then stanzas 23 through 30 changing, then changing back randomly*
