stumbles

stumbles

A Poem by ChemicalMadness

stumbled over you
     like shoes strewn
     (strategic imposition)
     erratically,
          somewhere out of place

jarring to see
     what had been
     so long away,
          so wholly departed

  like cars parked
          on fresh frozen
               lakes
clear waters
          stiff-white
(opaque as
     your intention)
misplaced,
     unexpected convention...
sitting there,
all
the same:
          parked and waiting
          for sky’s light to dim
and headlights to shine,
     clear streams of understanding
     to play across
          crumbling surfaces
not fit to skate...
          impeding our slide,
trip-stepping -
     even as our heads
are bathed
     in blue-black halos

and so we meet -
     ungracefully again

our sometimes stumble
          familiar enough
               to recall...
oh yes,
          we’ve been here all along

The feeling of "unease" within your poem is prominent easily understood what was once so warm, now distant and somewhat chilly, yet there you are, that's where you've always been...somewhat uneasy, somewhat distant, like bumping into old lovers in the grocers

I really liked the flow and imagery in this one. The whole idea of being "out of place" or misplaced, not completely all together - awkward, that's the word I'm looking for. Beautiful imagery here.
