i smiled when you asked me "do you know what it tastes like
to stay?"
corners of my mouth must have hinted i knew
the miles were few on our souls that summer
cool grass tickled the back of my mind as we drank ourselves full of the nights tangled and tireless as the chorus reassured us we knew we knew we knew
so we danced complete in those effortless moments nothing but arrogant blood and morning dew pushing fast through our summer veins
“We knew; we knew” it would pass from us forever, and so we savored every last moment for all it was worth. Your free verse poem beautifully expresses all those times when we attempt to catch the ephemeral essence of a rainbow or a butterfly in flight.
This is, young and innocent... A naive, yet beautiful kind of love that can believe without yet having those hurts and crafted-from-another pieces, to overcome... fresh, cucumber, lemonade summer love... I wonder what it tastes like, if this is the only love, you ever know. The way you have written, phrased this too, has that same effortless sweeteness CM... Lovely...

but we knew it was temporary..in our arrogance we enjoyed the few effortless moments...
it's just summer...
your writing appeals to me so much, and inspires mine..
you use words so wisely, and so compactly ...and my imagination travels at high speed when i read your work.

that's one of the best reviews i've ever gotten...you know how these words swirl and twist about you.. read morethat's one of the best reviews i've ever gotten...you know how these words swirl and twist about your mind and you just do your best to capture the right ones at the right time and get them down in the right places on the page....they usually make sense to me, but it seems like a magic trick every time the words mean anything to anyone else - let a lone as accomplished and talented a writer as you. thank you, jacob.
The first stanza is so beautiful. I love this. It reminds me of the person who said they would always stay. It reminds me of our summer together.
This is beautiful.

reminds me of first love, that puppy love when all is daiseys and popcorn, sneaking out of windows and being innocent reckless. effortless moments, like that old couple i saw outside the other day holding hands..only perhaps, a little more grounded. it was nice..this summer was too..i like the nostalgia. well done CM.

Hopefully you find something in some of my words here...If not, there is beauty in the music (which is not mine, clearly). Listen....always listen. more..
