those days, ours

those days, ours

A Poem by ChemicalMadness

in those blinding days

current passing through

our veins

we never knew our dreams -

  leaving was easy

to walk in doors

to turn our backs

on the room

was to blink

            eyelashes protecting

            startlingly bold and

            impossible

but they belonged to us

we never fell

as much as we quietly

learned

            the laws of changing

            gradients

undulation causing

instability

            but beckoning all

the same

so souls stepped clean

perhaps with too much

fervor

            buried in soil

            never before disturbed

ready to receive

hearts so sold

on the search

            we never learned

            to give

we never learned
to give -- this stanza speaks so much truth to me...so relatable.

This piece was both haunting and lovely at the same time. You pen the flux of love; the ever changing currents of desire and dedication. I love the way that you bare your soul with each of your writes, and I have seen such a progression from the time I first started reading you. You are becoming a truly amazing poet, my friend, I only wish that I was able to read you more.

Great form and flow, strong imagery, striking concept...tops in my book. Well done.

Something so beautifully haunting about these words, like sunlight on lashes, and winter blooms, wonderful words written here and the last stanza stings with an honesty that is rarely found in lovers.
