A Poem by ChemicalMadness

words

  dropped safe

  cushioned completely

protected entirely

this currency

                these balances

  transferred

                i never

expected

   heft

    substance

left to question

                who brought these here

whose hands

                what synapses fired

                what worlds spun oceans

dancing

on the almost not

                                there

head

                of these

                                words

one time

                you told me

your lips moved so disarmingly

                you said

you don’t understand

clever heart

                don’t you see

it’s been a thousand years

                and your words

yet

                remain

                in

                   me

Your words scatter the page just randomly enough in form to match the carefully balanced chaos of their meaning. Some people just have that effect of eternity on us, no matter what we or they do to try and make it otherwise. Why have we not advanced to just accept these things as facts and get on with it?

Thank you. Means a lot coming from you!
words transferred like balances in a bank..
and on whose credit do we poets borrow the words to use.

i like the "you don't understand" part...yet it makes me think of readers who feel they don't understand our poetry..because they don't think they get "it"--maybe some "it" they think we were going for....

i almost hate having that word "understand" associated with poetry at all...

but thousands of years later...the words are still written and the words are still read, and they certainly do remain in the "heart."
at least hopefully, that is true.

Thanks jacob
CM, I am horrible with reviews, I can never say what I want to say and that sucks. ..But here goes.. The way you have positioned these words, the way you set them is so good. Whose hands brought these here? What synapses fired? The last part is brilliant! Just like Sarah said. Just like Shy said. This is going in my library so I can savor it again and again. Angi~

Thank you so much. Your words are deeply appreciated! That was, most certainly, not horrible ;)read more
What Sarah said. Really. It's like walking higher, only better, and you amaze me.. (I know someone's already shining your shoes, but I'll think of something :))

me -- this is brilliant. Your poetic voice speaks gentle volumes. The rest of this piece was good, but this was absolutely fantastic. I could lose myself in this stanza; in these lines. So well done!
