A Poem by ChemicalMadness

i found it there

                written years ago

a book I never read

a note I never found

                open when needed

the indifferent light off the window

rendered me

a hasty apparition

eyes the color of closed doors

                my heart beat violet

                                uneven, reaching

like the void could be touched

                and fixed, certain

your voice would provide hands

to steady my

                soul uncertain

this letter

                only slightly more real

than my reflection

having come to be

                out of nothing

smiled at me like

 everything

real " i knew it was real

                letters the color of longing

knowing we dream only

                in black and white

as if everything could be four times

                folded

slid silent on the shelf

obeying instruction

                staying still

                knowing already what was

not yet

                waiting for me

                open when needed

it was now

even then, it was always now

my hands,

familiar with

    the idea of you

                worked in practiced measure

unwrapping words

                i could not read

until viewed in the glass

                in front of me

                I am real

we all are footnotes to yesterday..it's only when we stop to read or hear them does the reality of our lives sink in.
I agree with CHL, nicely formatted and reads so smooth..

There's sadness and yearning resonating in this piece. i would not want to be in a position wherein people would only remember me when they needed something from me. But sometimes, at the touch of love, we do crazy things. A poignant piece.

That's an interesting view I hadn't really considered...I always love hearing different interpretati.. read more
Beautiful longing in this one... "open when needed"--I love this concept. Finding something beautiful and heartfelt in the most unexpected of places, and knowing that it will be there when the time comes. I also love the last line..."I am real", as it gives a sense of both love and honesty directed toward the speaker form himself, as well as toward the one who wrote the note in the first place. Well written; one of my favorites.

Eyes the colour of closed doors.. speaks volumes. What is the colour of closed doors anyway..? As many as there are doors, I would imagine... (I sometimes wish my past self had written a note like this to me.) And I loved the part about the note being 'mirror writtened', split parts.. At least that's how I read it. I'll be coming back to this one. Thank you for sharing :)

Thank you for reading!!!
this is like a letter the speaker found..which was from an old love, and it could have made a difference if read years ago...but now..there it is...and the only way this person can read the letter is with a glass of alcohol to dull the pain of knowing what could have been, what used to be and was lost.

and this whole scene you paint..-the book never read...etc...it is like a room of regrets gathering dust.

i find your writes take me to really interesting crevasses of life.
