everyday

A Poem by ChemicalMadness

it would be nice

                if you were here

have you ever been

                so not

don’t you ever feel

                so if

f**k

I do

and it’s the where i am

                right now

that makes me feel

                i need you right here

i needed you

                i suppose

                just like candlelight

i always thought you knew

just like asprin

                and a cold compress

you made sense

these are things that should just be

                i can’t help telling you

but it’s fair for you to admit

                                you really should have known

                i bleed in past tense

                making ruins of

                the future perfect

i can’t always paint your face

make giraffes out of your balloons

some of this

                needs to be

dish towels

and lightbulbs

it's the ordinary things in love which make them extraordinary..
"i always thought you knew
just like asprin
and a cold compress
you made sense"

great lines and enjoyed the entire poem!

This reminds me of marriage or the trials of long relationships. Everyday can't be a party, but everyday can be a celebration- of security or lasting companionship or what have you, or simple a quiet moment of reverence. Like, "it's all in how we frame it, and I choose to frame it in a homemade frame, the one I made for you, and I would like for that to be okay, or more than okay."

There are people we need, and that is a good thing. Sometimes, it's not so easy to express that in a way that elevates it. I think you did here. At least, that's what the poem's saying to me.

This is such a poignant "unorthodox" love poem. Of course, we have already established that you are unusual :) The shining beauty of this piece is the honest and the simplicity. This is "everyday" life; this is what the real should be and how it should be exposed to the world. I love the choices that you have made in terms of style, wording and phrasing; so well done. I would choose favorite lines, but I feel as though I would be quoting the entire piece.

Still a little cryptic, but in a beautifully maddening way. Well penned, my friend!

this reminds me of my favorite poem by Nikki Giovanni. Love poems shouldn't all be about moonlight and stars. The boy doesn't always get the girl. You reminded me also of an old ghost. Do memories ever stop flowing in waves?
