![]() Truth, unraveledA Poem by ChemicalMadnessyou met my eyes one last time before my hair spilled over your face apologetic final symbolic reaching out gently closing eyes never again meant to see
you asked me to tell you something anything you grasped at me like nightmares trying to recall what is was you’d seen so wrenching you had to remember to forget I should have told you these things but these things come only through living and then only through looking with eyes bloodshot and desperate with desire to see
I can promise you lies thoughts woven skillfully in words written carelessly meant only to satiate to cool to brush gently the top of the covers that no one inspect what’s underneath until one day you’ll come to know everything that matters is underneath
I can tell you when you’re afraid to write what’s in your heart your dreams are refugees and the truth is your prisoner until your heart rips open like a Kansas sky in May you’ll not see thunderstorms are sent to set you free
I can tell you you will never know love until love forces itself free of your hands outstretched a final broken plea wrung breathless from repentant clouds spilling, unapologetic over eyes never again meant to see
Those things would have been truths but they would have been my own like the purple stars I watch swim in puddles or the way I hear thoughts in the eyes of others I cannot give what was never yours to see what you’ll never know until you’re free © 2013 ChemicalMadnessReviews
