The                                      Wait.

magnetic humming

eager tingle

of

                                    A n t i c i p a t i o n

sit with me

drink this

    all

    in

bottle of wine

         or

fifith of gin

cup of tea?

sure

(i give in)

heighten your senses

soon

        exploring

your brain

let me entertain

your sensibilities

    just in case

we want

to do this

again

this food

laid out

prepared

flesh on grill

    practiced marks

    bisect

(intent seared)

so we may eat

           first

with our

eyes

so wait

          please wait

let your knife

be still

it has work to do

(no more than we)

but must be

excercised

      carefully

to slide in

and slice

too soon

            all efforts

            at perfection

            spilled in

            blood

across       your       plate

art and substance

gone to

waste

take comfort

sweet electric soul

knowing still

we will

leave here

whole

speaking of these times

   gone down

in lore

frantic feelings

never felt

(since or before)

while

we

So

1. The format is intriguing.
2. The format is unique.
3. The format is authentic.

VOCABULARY I ENJOYED:

1. Magnetic
2. Sensibilities
3. Anticipation

IMAGERY

1. Wine
2. Tea
3. Gin
4. Food
5. Grill

QUOTE DISECTION

"magnetic humming

eager tingle

of

A n t i c i p a t i o n"

FORMAT

1. This particular quote is Abstract.
2. It causes the reader to concentrate on the noun, "anticipation" in order to create suspense.
3. It allows the reader to be Vicariously with you during this special moment.

FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE

Your talent for metaphors, similes, and imagery is astounding in one piece of Abstract poetry. There is much going on here for my Critiquing eye to full grasp.

A. " blood

across your plate

art and substance

gone to

waste"

1. Firstly, I like how you spread "across your plate". My interpretation consisted of feeling:

(1) Anger
(2) Passion
(3) Lust

CONCLUSION

1. The Abstract style is a hit for me.
2. I am looking forward to reading more like this.
3. Anticipation is a wondrous feeling because it keeps things exciting.

yours truly,
Veronica

Interesting... I really enjoyed the format, and the unorthodox style. I know that I can always hop over to your page for some inspiration when it comes to the "modern". I liked the idea of this one too...it might have been playful, but I see the larger metaphor in this one. Enjoy the waiting...anticipation is often more rewarding than the actual "first bite" if you know what I mean. :) Well done, I'm glad you directed me over to this one.

I also enjoyed this as the others did. It reminds me a little bit of Sylvia Plath. My only quip, if that's what you want to call it, is although I can see your purpose for the formatting, at times it's as though I'm running an obstacle course. Still think it has plenty of merit to be called a great poem though. Nice work.
