Silent

Silent

A Poem by Fabian G. Franklin
"

Suffering in silence

"

If the moon and sea were in love

their breaking would be the tide

leaving her all a tremble

and heaving with grief inside

I screamed at the mountains

but mountains are vast

My voice echoed and faded,

my words did not last

I whispered to clouds

that were drifting so lightly

the first breeze of spring took them

though I held them so tightly

I ran to catch the sun

but it was burning bright;

singing songs to the dancing moon,

pitching woo to ocean light

Rocked with waves and tides,

greater grew the sea’s disdain

The surf has a salty heart inside;

furious typhoon and hurricane

His pock marked face hung in shame

He could not win his lady blue

She reflected but couldn’t say his name

the dolphins sang a lonely tune

I wrote letters to God

The angel mail never came for the post

They said I must pray like everyone else

If mountains are vast; God is a Holy Ghost

What the mountain echoed

the Spirit would not bear

It’s not my right to question why

I must love when others do not care

Like the moon I hung my head in shame

Unable to find any audience

in heaven or earth to ease my pain

while my soul wept secret and silent

a very personal and powerful write...I love the use of the moon and the sea.... they were in love...and then what comes after. "the sea's disdain"...what would it be like....there are so many vivid images: " His pock-marked face hung in shame"....there was nothing anyone could do to rectify the situation...even the Holy One; your pain and suffering;" like the moon I hung my head in shame"...every word in this piece is so strong and yet heart-wrenching at times...brilliant!

WOW, such vivid imagery here. I really love this part a lot.
I get the sense of imagery of a tug of war with emotions in this.
Nicely presented

This sounds like a deep ache the not only hurts the heart but the whole of the persons being. Filling it with sadness and insecurity.

The use of the moon as the heartbreak is a good comparison that gives a stunning but tragic tale of loss. The angels post didn’t come to get the mail is even more melancholy than the moon. Crying out to the mountains and the it being lost on the wind. Profound visuals throughout!!

Masterful in every respect!! Over all the posts I have read over the years on this and other sites, and even great masters this one touches closest to the heart. Each stanza a beautiful piece in itself all building to a most wonderful finale. It does what all art should do, it moves, touches the soul. Brilliant Fabian I can not quote a favorite stanza it is so well balanced that all are sublime in and of themselves. Thank you so much for sharing this magnificent poem
