SilentA Poem by Fabian G. FranklinSuffering in silenceIf the moon and sea were in love their breaking would be the tide leaving her all a tremble and heaving with grief inside
I screamed at the mountains but mountains are vast My voice echoed and faded, my words did not last
I whispered to clouds that were drifting so lightly the first breeze of spring took them though I held them so tightly
I ran to catch the sun but it was burning bright; singing songs to the dancing moon, pitching woo to ocean light
Rocked with waves and tides, greater grew the sea’s disdain The surf has a salty heart inside; furious typhoon and hurricane
His pock marked face hung in shame He could not win his lady blue She reflected but couldn’t say his name the dolphins sang a lonely tune
I wrote letters to God The angel mail never came for the post They said I must pray like everyone else If mountains are vast; God is a Holy Ghost
What the mountain echoed the Spirit would not bear It’s not my right to question why I must love when others do not care
Like the moon I hung my head in shame Unable to find any audience in heaven or earth to ease my pain while my soul wept secret and silent
