Like A Ghost

Like A Ghost

A Poem by Chellie
"

A poem about how I view the world around me after the passing of my father.

"
Like a Ghost

Broken,
Damaged,
Hurt,
Lost

Floating through life
Like a ghost in the night
Looking, but not seeing
Listening, but not hearing

Hearts beating all around
But mine has stopped
The day you died
Mine died with you

The world around me moves
At an alarming rate of speed
But I am stuck in time
Stuck on your last breath

Grief is painful
Crippling at times
When the damaged and lost heart
Suddenly starts back up

It makes me want to scream
For someone to understand
The pain my heart feels
The loss that will always be

But few understand
Few seem to care
The ones who don't
Push me into dispare

They cast their eyes on me
Judging my tears
But I pay them no mind
Most of the time

They don't know how I live
Or the pain that I feel
As I float throuh life
Like a ghost in the night

My father passed away a little over six months ago. This poem is an extention of my soul. It is my raw emotions and how I see the world around me at this time. I hope to one day get my zest for life back, but for the time being, the grief is much too crippling.

I like this poem not just because it's totally expressive yet the usage of figures of speech fits on what the concept was. The term "ghost" is a great symbol in a heart breaking poem.
I appreciate the flow of your poem. It really catches my heart and I could feel the grief when I read it.
Good job and continue writing.

This certainly captures the intensity of grief and the pain of loss...On a personal note, I do hope you find your zest for life again and feel positive about the future - as I'm sure your father would have wished.

Surprise!! Hehe! Your amazing at this!
I really felt every word. A lot of my writing is a way to cope with my mother's death and I have truly felt everything you put into this; eloquent and simple, but so powerful.

Thank you so much. It is so hard, but we have to keep going.
True to yourself, its hard to critisize something raw and from the heart

Hard to understand death of a parent. There words and faces cannot be forgotten. Your words honest and true. Made the reader feel the sadness and the loss. Thank you Chellie for sharing your words and your thoughts.
