Insanity's Cold EmbraceA Poem by digital_angel19A nightmare that continues to haunt...
A vision of mangled bodies, scattered like leaves,
The color red was all I could see, My throat tightens, and my stomach heaves, A handful of blood they have turned into a sea. Even as I turn my head, left and right, Everywhere are pieces of what my comrades used to be, I clench my jaw and shut my eyes tight, Just so that this nightmare I could flee. My skin is damp with sweat and grime, And I feel thick lifeblood rain down as if to indite, I choke on bile as I force myself not to see this crime, And I claw at my throat to stop its burning bite. I swallow the vile solution, its taste acidic, The spattering sound of blood is almost chaotic, And I steel myself for what is sure to be a horrific sight, When I opened my eyes, my body froze in fright. I sprung up on the bed, my heart pounding erratically, And I gasp for breath as tears streamed down on my face, I try to return and keep my grip on reality frantically, For I think I am starting to feel insanity's cold embrace. © 2013 digital_angel19Author's Note
