The Dancer and I

The Dancer and I

A Poem by digital_angel19
"

Okay, I just thought this up a few minutes ago, so it may seem unpolished. But I had to get the idea out of my head and onto any paper. After writing it, I quickly went to type it. P.S. I'm a girl. :P

"

She lifts her arms in copious elegance,

With such a lovely smile on her face,

Our eyes meet by means of chance,

Though, I look away from the wonderful display of grace.

I see her, yet again, for a second time,

Prepared with that beautifully haunting smile,

I stood still for a moment and was amazed,

But I slip away before our visions grazed.

We happen upon each other on another instance,

She halts from her dance and walks towards me,

I look behind me to check if there was anyone else to see,

Alas! There is no one around, even in the distance.

She stops a few feet from where I stood,

And she opens her mouth as if to say something,

I braced myself for, practically, anything,

But the only words she had to say were good.

I could not believe what I had heard,

So I gaped at her in astonishment,

She simply smiled and asked me to come and watch her more,

I couldn’t even say anything and I merely nod.

I come to watch her every day now,

And she seems to like me ever more,

I thought I knew how I felt about her,

Oh, silly me, I couldn’t have been more mistaken.

I didn’t know I had fallen for her at first sight,

Thought I went to see her just for the vision,

But I discovered it was because of her light,

And after this flash of clarity, I made my decision.

One day, while I was watching her,

I rose from where I was seated,

I strode to where she was and tapped her shoulder,

She immediately stops, her face in quiet wonder.

I grin at her before asking if she wanted to go have dinner,

Though the truth was that I was like a bundle of nerves,

She doesn’t answer for a moment and my grin grows thinner,

Finally, the corners of her mouth lift up.

I couldn’t help but hug her in happiness,

But I compose myself after a short time,

I glance around like I've committed a crime,

She laughs and says she likes my silliness.

Our story started from the minute I saw her dance,

With her graceful and nimble performance,

And I hope our romance continues forevermore,

Because from now, I’ll love her more and more.

Your lovely silliness has been portrayed quite nicely.
Hope you will polish it gradually to make it more lovely.
