Chapter 4: The Confusion

Chapter 4: The Confusion

A Chapter by Cameron Lockhart
"

Blake is still reeling from Danielle's advances, not only from the shock of the event, but also from his resulting feelings.

"

Blake wakes up in the middle of a grassy field that stretches out as far as the eye can see. Peculiarly, the grass bears a close resemblance to collard greens. He doesn't let his mind linger on this for too long as he proceeds to examine the rest of his surroundings. Off in the distance are mountains that resemble giant pieces of fried chicken, and a forest of grilled asparagus that's not far from his current location.

"Bla-ake!"

Blake is suddenly taken by surprise as he hears a sultry female voice calling out his name. It's coming from somewhere in the distance. He doesn't know why, but he's damn sure it's important that he finds the source. After hearing his name called again, he hurries through the forest and continues through the stretch of field on the other side. He sprints for what feels like over an hour, but he's not even close to feeling worn out. It's almost as though the mysterious voice is energizing him.

Soon enough, Blake is forced to stop as he comes across a river that's flowing with a thick brown substance. Occasionally, a random chunk of debris pops up at the surface for a few seconds, only this doesn't look like debris. Instead, it looks like... shrimp, crawfish and sausage? His curiosity piqued, Blake crouches down and dips his finger into the river. Since everything else he's seen so far resembles food, he can only assume the river fits the same bill. And sure enough, it turns out to be gumbo. What a peculiar world he's ended up in.

"Bla-ake!"

That disembodied voice calls out to him again, startling him for a bit. Right on cue, a series of giant fried green tomato slices pops up out of the river, acting as stepping stones for Blake to cross. He doesn't hesitate to do so; he just has to know who this voice belongs to, and he will not rest until he does.

Before long, Blake comes across a large patch of grass that is much taller than the grass around it, and he notices a lot of steam rising from within it. He eagerly forges his way through until he comes across what appears to be a hot spring. The rocks that make up its structure are really just buttermilk biscuits, and the water is nothing more than hot white sausage gravy. It's then that he notices a young, caramel-skinned woman relaxing here, neck deep in the savory substance. She quickly opens her eyes, almost as through she can sense Blake's presence.

Blake is taken aback by her reaction, and is only shocked even more as the woman slowly stands up. It's none other than Danielle McGuire herself, the new co-worker who's been making him experience emotions he's never felt before. With a suggestive smile on her face, she slowly climbs out of the rock pool and walks over to him. He doesn't know why, but the sight of the thick white substance trickling down her curvaceous body is arousing the hell out of him.

Not saying a word, Danielle deepens her grin as she wipes a hand across her bosom, wiping the gravy off of it and seductively licking it clean. As a result of her actions, her breasts are revealed right before Blake's eyes, looming in front of him in all their large, perky glory and also letting him know that she's been skinny-dipping. She then uses a finger to beckon him over. As if he already knows what she's about to say, Blake hurries over and starts to lick off every last drop of gravy he sees, not stopping until she's squeaky clean. All the while Danielle lets out a series of moans and laughs occasionally.

Without warning, however, the dream ends. Blake suddenly wakes up in the wee ungodly hours of the morning, both his brow and the collar of his shirt drenched with cold sweat. He ponders to himself over what his dream could mean, but all thinking about it does is cause his pants to tighten. Immediately he freaks out, nearly falling out of bed in the process.

As Blake gets out of bed and hastily changes into some day clothes, he repeatedly curses himself for almost sleeping with Danielle and then having an erotic dream about her afterwards. He knows it's wrong to feel this way. He just knows. He hurries out of his apartment and heads to the downtown church. The only light within the room comes from the many dim candles scattered about. It's occupied by churchgoers, all of them widely spread out as they drop to their knees and pray. Blake picks a spot right by the altar and does the same.

Dear God, why? he repeatedly asks. Why am I suddenly feeling this way? I've never committed a single sin in my life, and now I'm unintentionally committing one now! I beg of you, my lord! Purge me of these unholy feelings!

Blake kneels there in silence for a while, his eyes tightly shut as he listens for a response, only to crack them open in irritation. With an irritated sigh, he stands back up and departs, knowing the only way to confront his problem is to face it head on. Not even religion can fix everything, and in those rare times, it's up to you to set things right.
