Summer Memories

Summer Memories

A Story by Chauncey
"

A (very) short story on how comforting memories can be.

"

Vanilla ice cream and bubble gum. Warm summer memories to scare away the cold winter loneliness. The scent of her lavender perfume fills me with a warm sensation that slowly snakes it was down my body from my head to my toes. The sound of her sweet laugh echoes through my head, drowning out the rattle of the windows caused by the storm outside. The howling winds are no match for the overjoyed giggles that I once heard. The kiss that tasted of cherry lipstick once again presses on my lips, sweeter than any candy on a gingerbread house, and warmer than a cup of hot chocolate fresh off the stove. I remember the feel of her arms around me, and the blanket feels more comfortable. As I slowly start to drift to sleep, the familiar feeling of her fingers locking into place with mine arises. But that was all it was, just memories and faded echo’s of better days. She moved on and went somewhere else, while I stayed here. A lonely boy in a winter house living on summer memories.

I feel as if your view and my views are quite different. As if you grew up loved and read Dr. Seuss.
As to where I grew up alone and read Edgar Allan Poe.
Coming from two different roads and diverging in one where poetry lies.

Great poem C:
