A Poem by Chasity Fannin

Summer heat is killing me,
muscle atrophy.
All this is unnerving me.

I'm not up to code.
Tie up the rubber hose,
stop the blood flow.
Wipe the slate and start again.
When you knock I won't let you in.

Take my memories and start a fire;
fenced in with electric and barbwire.

Wondering in solitude,
sunshine doesn't change the mood.
A lazy Monday afternoon.
