I am especially fond of this one. I thought the second and third stanzas smacked of sarcasm, at first, but I probably brought some preconceived notions to the table. The entire back half of this poem is profound - it could almost be its own poem of hope: Tomorrow will arrive/ All I need do is fix today/ and it can be mine. // Tomorrow will arrive. // And so will I.
Or, as a wise lady once said to me, so often (which I later learned to be Biblical): "And this, too, shall pass."
What I especially like, and what changes the poem, is the line, "All I need do is fix today." That's the problem - 'today' cannot always be fixed. Sometimes, tomorrow never comes... we just keep living the same day, over and over. I refuse.
