Deacon Chain plopped down on his couch and grinned when his wife came up and began massaging on him. She leaned over and kissed him.

“Wasn’t church good today Timmy?”

“Yes Lord Bishop preached today!”

“I’ve been hearing some awful adultery rumors though…”

“Oh?” Timothy Chain got a lump in his throat.

“Yeah Sister Hills told me she saw Mindy Crawford with someone.” Timothy loosened his tie and swallowed hard,

“Oh did she say who it was?”

“She said it looked like it might have been Minister Campbell.”

“Hmm could’ve been.”

“What you mean Tim? He told you he’s cheating?”

“Oh no I’m just saying…”

“Are you alright Tim?”

“Um no baby I need to go lay down and maybe go see mama tonight.”

“Tim your mom is fine when are we going to see me at nights again?”

“Baby mama is not fine unless I come to see her at times, I promise though that this Tuesday night it will just be me and you.” Timothy turned around and kissed his wife but she pulled away. He looked and she jived and let down her dress before disappearing in the bathroom. Timothy got a grin on his face but it went away when she snapped her finger and said, “You won’t get no more of that if you break this promise.” Timothy frowned then kicked off his shoes and fell asleep watching the evening news.

Mindy sat in the park talking to herself. “See what you did?” she kicked the a few rocks into the pond. “You could be the one person to break a happy home.” Mindy was the one that song at Timothy and Sarah Chains wedding. She admired their marriage so much because here they were both only 22 and had 2 kids. Mindy smiled at the memory of Sarah dress and the picture they took together at the reception. She had it in her wallet and pulled it out. They both were up on the stage hugging and laughing and even crying, tears of great joy of course. Mindy got teary and gently laid the photo back into the wallet. “Forgive me Lord Jesus!” she cried. A woman walking by heard her, “Yes Lord please forgive this child of whatever is troubling her!” The woman gave Mindy a wink and she waved as the woman slowly walked along. It began to get dark and cold so Mindy decided to cancel the meeting with her sister and text Timothy to meet her at the coffee shop in about a hour.

Tisha Gets Caught In It

Tisha argued with her sister on the phone, “No Mindy you and me are going to talk about what’s going on with you!”

“Tish I am fineeeee, really.”

“You’ve been acting mighty strange for a good time now Mind, even mama has said so…” Mindy shifted in car and started backing out the park parking lot.

“Mind where are you anyway? Tell me where you going.”

“I’m going home to get some sleep Tish, it’s been an hard day and church got me tired.” “For a good 3 years I’ve been worrying about you now Mind! I demand you tell me what is going on right now!”

“I can’t do that Tish, but hey we’ll hang out sometime this week okay?”

“Not okay but whatever.”

“I love you Tish.”

“Love you to Mind.” Tisha immediately hung up and threw the phone. She hated when there was secret stuff going on right under her nose. Jerry walked in and picked up the phone, “Ha someone needs a time out.” Tisha smiled,

“Oh Jer please don’t cheer me up, I want to be mad for a while.”

“You WANT to be mad…hmm that’s typical.”

“Typical?” Tisha laid her hand on her hip and sniffed. Jerry clenched his fist remembering that when she did that he’d better shut up.

“Um who was on the phone though, bill collectors?” Tisha turned and sat o the table,

“No it was Mind.”

“Oh you two in with it or something?”

“Yeah, you know she’s been going about kind of funny like for a few years now.”

“I noticed that…” Jerry regretted what he said by the look Tisha gave him.

“You do? You know something I don’t?” Tisha stood again with and sniffed harder this time.

“Um no. I mean I just seen that she’s acting different.” Jerry stood there with his mouth open. Tisha grinned,

“Jer do I scare you?”

“Sometimes…” he grinned back.

“I’m really worried bout her though, she doesn’t even want to come around anymore.” “Well maybe you should go to her.”

“She’s never home.”

“Oh wow. Her rent is way to much to never be home.” Jerry pulled Tisha down to the conch and massaged her feet.

“Haha yeah, we all need to grow up don’t we?”

“Hmm funny that you asked that, it reminded me that half the church is under 30.”

“Wow I never realized that Jer.” Jerry knew she was being sarcastic and pinched her toe. “Ouch!”

“Scream it louder this time and throw my name in!”

“I’m not in the mood tonight.”

“Nor were you last night….” They both sniffed at each other.

“You know what Jer? If you run me a hot milk bath and let me rest for a bit we both can get in it.” Tisha bit her bottom lip and Jerry licked his. He kissed her before going to the closet and pulling out the bath milk and running upstairs. Tisha chuckled but sniffled as she slumped down into the love seat. She worried about her sister even more now and shuttered at the thought of something serious going on.
