Truthful Expressions

Truthful Expressions

A Poem by Charming Rivers

I have to wake up each morning

Look in the mirror

And be able to stare down the face

That looks back at me.

Can I do it?

What will I see?

A liar, a cheater,

Betrayal…

Or sick fantasies coming true?

I have to stare into her eyes

While I wash my face,

Brush my teeth.

As I put on my makeup

Will I be able to hold her gaze?

I have to look, live, believe.

I am the only one who knows.

Me and that face in the mirror.

The face that smiles her secrets

Through dark, dark eyes.

Will those dark eyes taunt me with truth,

Or am I better than a reflection?

I am what I am.

Not what I see.

About
I have been writing since I was 7. I would love to get published someday. I write poetry, fiction, and I am trying to dabble in some autobiography type of work, but that's a slow process. I have an A.. more..
