A daughter's reply to a father's lament.

A daughter's reply to a father's lament.

A Poem by Charms
"

I just thought that "A Father's Lament" was a tad incomplete so I thought I would write a reply.

"

Daddy you didn't call me,

On my wedding day,

I don't know what happened,

And why you stayed away.

No one from our family,

Saw me walk down the aisle,

No one saw the tears that,

Hid behind my smile.

I guess you had your reasons,

As they did too,

It was tough on my own,

To see the whole day through.

My best friends were there,

They helped do my hair,

My sister took mom's place

Because you were not there.

I just can't believe how bad,

I was betrayed that day,

Whenever I think back,

I'm left with nothing to say.

I'm married to a good man,

Who I know won't let me down,

I know he'll hold on to my hand,

When my world keeps spinning round.

Now he's taken over,

The day I became his bride,

I know he truly loves me,

And he won't leave my side.

If you see my father, Please

Tell him I know he meant no harm,

After all I was the little girl,

He once held in his arms.

Author's Note

Charms
I had to write this, maybe for closure, maybe I was pensive, maybe I just like writing "sad" stuff sometimes. Maybe there's a little hidden truth in this. I just wanted the Father's lament to be a little more complete and this made it so.
