A Poem by CharlyeMonroe
"

Number 13 from The Knockouts

"
The trick to keeping this train on the tracks is single file and straight down
Champion
Lycee
Like the school yard hooligans
Employment is deployment

Not the option
Get in line
Lure on the hook
Had my hand shook today
She stroked the center
Flattery
We sit outside and talk about television
Stalls
“Accounts payable to the order of Mr. Monroe”
Myself mentioned in a line
Double time
As the sun makes my skin grin
Fairest hair

Black eyes
She is a vixen
Or femme fatale
Mid-afternoon’s fantasy
Mirror image
Reflecting glass girl a bit darker but beautiful as is the world today
Ponytail and puss in boots
Fleeting thoughts
Asphalt and concrete
Beat the block across town
French bulldog ugly

Bat ears and mashed face frowns
You are listening
Severity on the wind
Disparity
Car horn honks and hand breaks
Leather goods
Let’s meet Thursday and make this work
Last ditches
Dutch master’s Gogh
Just putting it together on location
La Wanda marvels
Whirling dervish retain the heart of the storm
Thunder and lightning
Level with me rolling stone
What is soul?
