12A Poem by CharlyeMonroeNumber 12 from The Knockouts
The squirrels in California are skinnier than their New York kin
I guess it is all the flax Seeds are scarce Or maybe acorns make the Manhattan chiselers a little more chunky Coats carrying a good gray Colors of the moon and cloud cover Cozy Move in packs Hunting in pairs Bring a jacket Commando comes second show And away Uptown trumpet heralding something missing Dean Martin Claws and teeth Members only jacket Short skirt Steak and eggs breakfast Over easy The sound returns pure and simple “The real reason I like tall girls is that I can fit into their clothes” Perishable items “I’d venture to guess they get dressed together” “In the same mirror no less” Chess moves seem mundane Plain as dimples in her cheeks Top and bottom The little ones Basic means a weeks worth Buttons High heels on a hell of a pair of stems Glasses black like the sweetest berries Brilliant iridescent Blackest looks over the shoulder signal “Get your a*s over here and hail us a cab why don’t you?” Hot water Soupy voice like molasses thick and rich Hips and a*s will twist and switch As she walks by Hands steam Pulse keen colder things Silver dollar Out of press and in circulation It is the end Put theses things on proper display Strangers then targets Time flies in between Take off Trailed Tail of nights out Thrill is going, going, gone © 2013 CharlyeMonroe |
