CommunityA Poem by Charly-oOn hate inside the queer community, (another un-edited piece I'm afraid)There is something in community that for me just radiates love like a trusted hug that word can wrap around you I try to surround myself in it it is something I cherish. Community to me is the safety of a weighted blanket It's something not everyone needs but regardless is a comfort it's the illusion nothing can ever hurt you like a duvet stopping a knife and I know what your thinking well probably like wow that just got dark what do you mean community can't protect me? Sorry I guess that comes out a bit wrong what I'm saying is community is a safe space. Personally I love safe spaces. I like to know there is somewhere I can go where I exist. Because fighting my 'friends' over my own identity is akin to fighting myself at times but I let that go never let it show until they brought it up again and I'm afraid to ask the big question if you don't believe in non-binary then what does that make me? In community that shouldn't happen. That is, in my opinion. because the world is no safe space but we can always carry mace just use it wisely. But when we come home we put down our weapons or at least try to but we're jumpy it's easy to be scared but community is our hospital bed where your mind is cleaned and fed please don't take that from me. confusion is ok obliteration is easy easy to confuse with clarity. So in a roundabout way what I mean to say is please keep community my definition of safety.
