Nature

Nature

A Poem by Charlotte
"

Beauty.

"

The soft amber haze coated the moors in a fairytale light,

It's curves rounded and high.

The place seemed dead, almost ghost like,

As the whispers of the winter wind circled and echoed,

Turned and twisted.

Coming to life as the flowers arched down to the shattered remains of grass,

Hollow and empty splayed across the ground.

The well known smell of fresh rain,

Its showers dancing around the moor tops like tiny tip toes.

The sun creeping through the mazed clouds,

Opening and wondering together in a circle.

The sounds of flickering leaves and dropping snow,

Sparkling like tiny silver stars present on the paths that we walk.

The feel of harsh winds and whirling trees,

As they collapse together, when the wind stops blowing.

Very nice job, superb imagery, a pleasure to read your poetry.

You have a Frost-like sense of sound and wonder in your poem, as well as imagery. Your cadence is much different but you have a similar feel to "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening"...

Well done. I particularly like fragments of images like,

" soft amber haze coated the moors...curves rounded and high..." and especially "flowers arched down to the shattered remains of grass."

At the same time there were a couple of fragments that seemed less fresh than these lovelies mentioned above, for example..."The place seemed dead...winter wind circled and echoed..." and I think you can be more inventive with the title while keeping the simpleness of the one you've chosen.

Overall, a very nice job. This poem shows considerable promise. Even moreso, the delecate and smooth sound of your work will undoubtedly lead you toward your vision for writing quality erotic/sensual narratives. You definately have the taste in your mouth from your words for that. Good luck to you. If you are looking for steamy artistic examples of powerful poet women, I would recommend to you three: Kim Addonizzio, Aimee Nezhukumatathil (good god, she is amazing. read 'why I crave ribs tonight' from her book, "At the Drive-in Volcano) and my former mentor, Elena Georgiou....

Be Well and good luck.

Regards,

Jim Churchill-Dicks
