A War Can Change Everything Chapter 5

A War Can Change Everything Chapter 5

A Chapter by Charlotte Hannah Brookes

It was 5.30am.

A loud alarm rang throughout the horse, and a sharp voice spoke through the speaker. Breakfast is now being served. Training will begin at Seven a.m. Make sure you have chosen a partner who has a different gift than yours. Do not be late. This was repeated three times.

This of course woke both Katherina and Will up. Katherina bolted upright " the water splashed over the side of the tub.

“Woah," Will lurched to one side; he threw out a hand to steady himself.

There was a pause for a moment as they both looked at each other " realising that they had actually fallen asleep in the bath. "We fell asleep.” Said Katherina, slightly amused “I win on the baths versus shower front, but I am going to have a shower to wake me up" She yawned and glanced at the clock "Five thirty. Who wakes someone up at Five thirty."

Will climbed out of the bath, grabbing a towel, "How long were we asleep for?”

“8 " 9 " hours” She paused.  “Nice morning glory." She commented "I guess baths do that to guys."

Will swore and quickly wrapped his towel around his waist. "How did we fall asleep?"

Katherina laughed, she had only been joking. "I normally have a back because it relaxes me, I guess it relaxed us too much." There was a slight flush to her cheeks "I'll see you at breakfast?"

“Right” Will muttered, leaving the room.

Katherina showered, and changed into her training gear. This consisted of black ¾ length pants, and a navy blue sports bra. She tied her hair up high before leaving her room and going to breakfast.  When she arrived in the kitchen,  she immediately made herself the same drink as the day before " Rosemary tea.

Alexander yawned as he entered the room, his hair was ruffled and he was dressed in a tracksuit “Morning. How did you sleep?”

She smiled slightly “Unusually, but interesting. Here” she passed him a mug of the tea “You’re not used to waking up before 10 are you?”

He shot her a look and rolled his eyes, but took a sip of the drink anyway. Katherina glanced up when Will entered the room “You’re forgiven, by the way " for being a d****e”

Will chuckled slightly “After last night, I should hope so.”

Alex’s eyes flickered between the two “What happened last night?” he demanded.

“Nothing you need to worry about Alex, we just talked.” She sat down beside her brother. She glanced at Will, “Do you think after this war, if " when " we win, the arranged marriage will be back on?”

“Honestly, I don't know," Will said, scanning Katherina's expression, "We might not even win the war," He added quietly.

Katherina didn’t reply to the second part, and was silent for a few minutes. There’s always chance and hope…her father’s words rang throughout her brain. “How would you react if the wedding was back on?" she asked Will.

Will squirmed a little, uncomfortable, "I- err- guess I would try to get to know you better,"

"Are you a virgin?" She asked bluntly "Or have you had sex before?"

Alex rose an eyebrow as Katherina asked Will this, “Do you really want to know that about him?” he asked her. Katherina just shrugged in reply.

“Err- are we really going to talk about this?" Will asked, struggling to keep a calm face. It was clearly an uncomfortable topic.

"It’s a serious question" Said Katherina, keeping her face blank. "So please answer it"

"I have," He said reluctantly, "Have you?"

Katherina sighed and shook her head "I have morals; I don’t want to have sex until I'm married - whether that marriage is for love or not, it’s my general belief." She swallowed slightly "So if the arranged marriage gets back on, I guess it'll be you I lose my virginity to."

“Well I don’t want to hear about my sisters sex life, so I will talk to you later” Said Alex, standing up. He nodded to Will before leaving the room.

Another message rang through the house. Training is in 5 minutes, todays training will be outside. Do not be late. It was again, repeated three times.

Katherina sighed “Come on, we should get going.”
