A War Can Change Everything, Chapter 2A Chapter by Charlotte Hannah BrookesA woman, tall and slender, paced in front of the training facility. Every step was fierce, and you could tell that she was not to be messed with. A few more cars arrived before she finally stopped walking. The unknown woman turned to look at what was to be her soldiers. “My name is Celia Johnson. One of the most noble, and well-known, Knights of Contention. And I am one of your trainers. You are not here to break rules, or to fight among each other. You are here to learn how to become allies, so we can together destroy the darkness.” There were a few murmurings but if she heard them she ignored them. “Each floor has a difference purpose, the ground floor is the floor used for relaxation, it has the kitchen, the dining room, and the lounge area, beneath that " in the basement " is a pool, mainly for the practice of water elementalists, as well as for relaxation. The first floor contains bedrooms for the Fairies among us.” Fairies were magnificent creatures, each having a unique colour for the shimmering wings. The women had long, beautiful hair the colour of water, whereas Men had short, cropped hair with the colour Earth. These creatures have the power of telepathy, telekinesis, and can become invisible. Their powers heightened when around water or earth, but they were easily poisoned by citrus fruits, and iron. “The second floor,” She continued “Is the floor for Elementalists. Now I know that each element has a feud with every other. But as I said earlier, we are here to become allies, not to battle our distastes” Elementalists could do wonder with their gifts. Each were also elegant, posed, and extremely attractive. Those who controlled fire were fast and agile. Those who controlled lighting were strong and fearless. The ones with the ability to manipulate water, were gentle with their steps, but could stop a person blood circulating their body, a painful death. Ice elementalists were swift and left trails of ice wherever they went. And Earth elementalists, were able to cause Earthquakes, as well as destroying an entire planet " though they were more unreliable with their gifts. But whenever something " an element, part of the planet for example " was damaged, their powers would weaken. “As we only have one Kingdom of time, their Warriors will share the third floor, with the wolves.” Now wolves, wolves were dangerous. They could shift at a moment’s notice if they wished to do so, but they also changed when an emotion unbalanced the rest of their system. This emotion could be anger, or sadness " it could be anything. They have an enhanced speed, strength and stamina, as well as enhanced senses. They could turn others into them, to numbers to their packs. Unfortunately, they were easily harmed by silver " no matter what form they were in. “And finally” Said Celia, “The fourth floor is where Witches and Warlocks will sleep.” A witch, unlike a warlock, was female, but both were immortal the majority of the time. They could still die, but they stop ageing when they reach the age of 18. Many, if not all, warlocks and witches have unnatural body parts, called a demon's mark, such as bat wings, goat feet, lizard tails, scaled hands or cat eyes. Some also have different coloured skin. This is because they both contained a quarter of demon blood in their system. These were the magic users the war desperately needed for weaponry, and health. “Training will begin tomorrow morning at 7am, it is late. Get some rest, though there is some food in the kitchen if you wish to have anything, and training is outside tomorrow.” She failed to mention where she and other instructors were to be sleeping, but maybe she had reasons for that. “Outside?” Asked Katherina, looking at her brother “I thought training facilities were meant to have buildings to train in?” “Some do” he replied “But training outside can make it feel more realistic.” He picked up both of the cases, and looked at his sister “I’ll put yours in your room for you” “How will I know which is mine?” “Trust me sis, it’ll be obvious.” He walked inside, taking their luggage with them. Katherina glanced around for a moment, the pressure in the air was high, and everyone was on ‘red-alert’ as they sensed the power of strength of each and every person there. She hastily walked inside, only to bump into someone. She looked up, and saw a man " taller than her, and with messy dark hair that fell over his pale blue eyes. “Oh " I’m sorry " I-“She paused “This isn’t a good start to making allies is it?” “How about you start with your name and where you’re from?” Offered the stranger. “Sounds…reasonable” She smiled slightly “I’m Katherina Aqueous, Princess of Oceanstide” "Oceanstide, huh? I'm pretty sure I've met your Father a while ago" The stranger took Katherina’s hand and shook it “I’m William " Will " Prince of Time” He looked at her with an almost knowing look in his eyes, and a small smirk of amusement on his face. It took a few moments before the same recognition lit up in Katherina’s eyes "You’re the man I’m supposed to marry aren’t you? The one to help form a treaty between Oceanstide and Entity's Existence " also known as the Kingdom of Time. It’s…nice to finally meet you, just slightly surprising that’s all” Time-Turners were a rare species of people, and only very few existed. They had the ability to pause, and rewind time, in order to rewrite the future. They also had a small elemental ability of Earth, but this was more unstable and then other gift, as it was rarely used by them. "How strange that we would meet here of all places?" He smirked slightly, "I thought that the first place I would have met you would have been at an altar," “I thought the same thing” Katherina’s eyes flickered to the strangers, before looking him up and down. So this is the person who is going to be the Father of my children, she thought. For a moment time paused, as Will froze it in order to walk around her, seeing what she looked like, and trying to get a sense of her character. He walked back to his original spot before unpausing time. “Is your brother here also - Alexander isn’t it?” “Alex” She corrected, a small frown forming on her features “How did you know I had a brother? We weren’t around when you visited.” “It is simple when you have a lot of time on your hands.” A smirk appeared on Will’s face. And it took a moment for Katherina to realise what he meant “You’re only saying that because you’re the Prince of Time aren’t you?” "Maybe," He smirked, he looked around, "You wouldn't happen to know where my room is, would you? I missed that ‘talk’ earlier” “Um " it’ll be on the,” She thought back to what the woman had said “the third floor. Want me to help you find it Time Boy?” The edges of his lips quirked up at his new nickname, "I just need to put my bags down," “Then I’ll show you” She led him to the lift, and from there to the third floor. They walked in silence until they reached a door with the word ‘Will’ Wrote on it . “What is your last name? It’s a fact that’s been annoying me, every other door has the last name as well as the first.” “Does it really matter?” “I guess it doesn’t…you know, when my brother said that it would be obvious, I didn’t realise he meant name wrote in big letters on the door. I must be oblivious to this sort of things.” “Being oblivious can be a good quality though” “Can it?” “Maybe” “I’ll leave you to unpack Time Boy, I’ll see you later?” “Yeah, see you at training Katie” “Katie?” “What? You gave me a nickname, can’t I call you that for short?” “Maybe, see you around Will.” She got back in the lift, and went to her floor. © 2013 Charlotte Hannah BrookesAuthor's Note
