Never

Never

A Poem by Natalie
"

To my dear sissy

"

You'll never see another sunset

On your porch with a glass of lemonade

You'll never cry over a love song

That won't let a memory fade

You'll never hear the secrets

That spilled out when you were gone

You thought no one really loved you

But sissy, you were wrong

I made a list of what you'll miss

But it ran off the page

And filled me with a saditstic sense

Of irony and rage

You see I felt the same way

That black "numb devastation" thing

Hope was something they  had

For what tomorrow might bring

You'll never feel the electricity

Of kissing your true love

You'll never smile in wondering

What he might be thinking of

You'll never open another gift

Taped poorly, labled MOM

Those glistening drops of happiness

Once seldom, now are gone

I had a chance to tell you this

When you were still alive

But I guess my words were hollow

Didn't even make you cry

You see, I didn't have the answers

I didn't know what "never" meant

Never means I failed

And I'll never see you again

Natalie
The cadence in this is a bit hard to grasp in places, but having read it aloud, I believe it works.
