Andrew

Andrew

A Poem by Natalie
"

The title of this poem is actually My Andrew with an X through the word My. However, as it would not let me enter the text that way, this is what you see.

"

My Andrew...

Your eyes are the waters

In which angels bathe

Icicle teardrops

Tinged with pain

Your eyes were roses

Carved from your frozen heart

Reconstructed from the shards

Of something ripped apart

Your eyes are scarred with beauty

All that’s left of you

Years of shame and loss and fear

And dreams that never came true

Your eyes gave out your secrets

Like paper valentines

The other girls threw theirs away

But I’ll be keeping mine

Your eyes became the tempest

The storm within my soul

We melted in our moment

Bodies entwined aglow

Your eyes swam with the light of stars

Encircling our heads

And floated to a milky way

That hung above your bed

Your eyes were closed in ecstasy

And you were not alone

I fell asleep against your chest

In a place I couldn’t quite call home

Your eyes are forever in my dreams

Eternal summer sky

A wish, a hope, a memory

A broken promise, a beautiful lie
