Fire and Ice

Fire and Ice

A Poem by Charlie Hawthorne

Fire and Ice

A flaming ball of Orange.

A temple of solid ice.

Side by side,

Hand in hand.

A 180 and a spot of serenity.

Golden leaves light the roads,

Like torches illuminate corridors.

Down the road a ways.

And head for the western coast.

A pool of chilly water,

Wooden staircases jet out.

Across the iron tracks lays a quiet town.

A Town of Old.

A place of beginnings.

Looking for a bustle?

Head to the City of Destiny.

A pyramid of glass.

And bricks of History.

Transparent panes make homes.

For various effects.

Large green cranes,

And titanesque ships port in the bay.

Smells of roasted coffee beans.

My nose says Hello to a warm Cupcake.

Slip through the narrow tunnel.

With our efficient hybrids.

Take a Five Mile drive.

And head into the wilderness.

Along the way visit the cages,

Holding the exotic.

Take in a bite and a show.

At the shop of old sandwiches.

Don’t forget an umbrella.

For it will most likely rain.

Feel it all with warmth.

Because this is home.

I think I started taking writing seriously when I was 13. I go through periods in my life where I write a lot and become inspired easily, but I also go through times when my creative juices do not see.. more..
