Storybook Fantasies

A Poem by Charlie Hawthorne

The pages turned quickly
The pages turned fast
The pages shared life
That no one else had

From bows and dresses
And tangled brown hair
To boys and kisses
And secrets unshared

The pages turned quickly
The pages turned fast
The pages shared life
That no one else had

From giggles and smiles
To fights and tears
To screams heard loudly
Over the years

The pages turned quickly
The pages turned fast
The pages shared life
That no one else had

From five and six
And leaving for school
To fourteen and fifteen
And breaking the rules

The pages are ending
The went by so fast
The pages shared life
That no one else had
