Chapter 1: A Second Chance in Ruins

The last thing Aria remembered was the blinding headlights of the truck and the screech of tires. Her heart had been pounding in her chest as she stood frozen on the crosswalk, unable to move. Then, darkness.

When she opened her eyes, it wasn’t the cold pavement or the sterile lights of a hospital room that greeted her. Instead, she found herself lying on soft grass under a pale blue sky. The air smelled clean, untouched by pollution, and a gentle breeze brushed against her skin.

“Where… am I?” she murmured, sitting up slowly. Her body felt lighter, stronger even, but her mind was a whirlwind of confusion.

Before she could process anything further, a mechanical voice echoed in her head.

**[Welcome to the Rebuild City System.]**

**[Congratulations, Host! You have been ⁶chosen to rebuild civilization in this fragmented world.]**

Aria froze. “What? Who’s there?” She looked around wildly but saw no one. The voice continued as if ignoring her panic.

**[As the sole administrator of this system, you will be granted tools and abilities to rebuild a city from scratch. Resources will be provided through tasks and exploration. Your ultimate goal: create a thriving community and ensure humanity’s survival.]**

Her heart raced. “Rebuild… civilization? What is this? Some kind of joke?”

But before she could question further, a translucent screen appeared before her eyes like something out of a video game.

A glowing chest appeared out of thin air in front of her. Aria hesitated for only a second before opening it. Inside were basic supplies: canned food, bottled water, a small toolset, and something that looked like seeds for crops.

The Rebuild City System guided her through daily tasks�"planting crops in the fertile soil near her hut, gathering materials from nearby forests, and expanding her Dimensional Space bit by bit. She had even built a small well for fresh water using one of the blueprints unlocked through completing quests.

But something felt… off.

For weeks now, she’d been feeling unusually tired despite eating well and getting enough rest. Her stomach had started to feel strange too�"not painful exactly but bloated in a way that didn’t seem normal.

One morning, as she sat by the small garden she’d cultivated with care, another notification appeared:

**[Health Alert Detected!]**

- **Host is 8 weeks pregnant.]**

Aria froze mid-bite of an apple from one of the trees she'd grown.

“Pregnant?” Her voice came out as barely a whisper.

Her mind reeled back to that night�"the night before everything changed when she’d gone out drinking with friends after quitting her soul-crushing job. She remembered meeting someone�"a man whose face was now blurry in her memory�"and waking up alone in his hotel room with nothing but a note that said *“Take care.”*

“Oh my god,” Aria whispered again as realization hit her like a tidal wave.

She wasn’t just rebuilding civilization anymore; she was carrying new life inside her.

Her hand instinctively went to her stomach as tears welled up in her eyes�"not from sadness or fear but from an overwhelming mix of emotions she couldn’t untangle.

The system’s voice chimed again:

**[New Quest Unlocked!]**

- **Objective:** Build a safe home suitable for raising children.

- **Reward:** Advanced Medical Kit & Nursery Blueprint.]

Aria wiped at her tears and stood up with newfound determination.

“Alright,” she said aloud to no one in particular but herself and perhaps the tiny life growing inside her. “If I’m going to do this… we’re going to do it right.”

With that resolve burning brightly within her chest, Aria opened the system interface again and got to work.
