One thousand and one steps,
A giant rock stair-case,
To the end of all this disgrace,
Each step i take is heavier,
Each movement i make is harder,
But the steps re-occur,
My heart beats faster,
Every breath i take is strained,
Like my lungs are restrained,
I cling to the cliff face hard,
My knuckles turning white,
And i wont give in to this fight,
My hand claws its way upwards,
Seeking another handhold,
To recognise one, of old,
From the first and last time before,
I grasp it well and place my trust,
Grabbing it before i can adjust,
It holds, and im a step closer,
I dont look up, and never down,
only at whats in-front of my frown,
Its like this all the way up,
Step, cling, move, pray,
Step, cling, move, and lay,
But i wont let go and fall,
I gave you my word, to our pact,
Upon which, i wish never to act,
And at the top is a cottage, and vineyard,
But im only here, around halfway,
Il reach the top someday,
One thousand and one steps,
A giant rock stair-case,
At the top, a life of grace,
