Love's Long Journey (Thanks to Isaac, Robert & Tulley)

A Poem by C. M. Miller
"

My very, very FIRST "love" poem. Circa 1985 or so. Some of the verses include the titles from my favorite books written by sci-fi writers. The poem a bit over the top, but see I met this girl . . .

"
In the night sky there are the stars,
like dust. A whirlpool of stars
spinning eons into the future.

Through this endless firmament
my heart yearns for my timeless
star-born lover to come home . . .

Earth-Song . . . the green hills of Earth
beckon you to return . . . as all
children of the stars must.

And yet, upon your return, still will I
see the light of the cosmos emanating from
within your eternal eyes . . .

Yes, so much like the night sky . . .
your eyes, reflecting the whirlpool of stars,
like dust.

One important implication of my grasping this poem is that that the dreams don't originate within ourselves but with our wishful thinking of how we feel connected to the universe. I liked the luminous details and this part was my favorite:
"Earth-Song . . . the green hills of Earth
beckon you to return . . . as all
children of the stars must.".

Also, thank you for commenting on my new poem. Hope everything is fine.

What a beautiful extravagance... love as vast as the stars... as intimate as their light. There is a novel of loving in every line.

Your words under the title say it all: someone appears, sprinkles that magic dust - BUT the space around you is far, far too small for all your thoughts and emotions whilst you share time together! Your words are so gently and pictorially laid. The mood surrenders to their meaning. But, wondering if perhaps there's a lingering sadness?

The 80's were the best, weren't they? All my writing consisted of unrequited love or the angst of losing it. Love is a good navigator, always steering us in the direction we fight against.

So, you got the girl, right?
