The Game of Hearts and Shame

The Game of Hearts and Shame

A Poem by Charles Roberts

All in all it’s hard to know what to do and where to go
Impossible to anticipate which way the wind might blow
Easily deceived by the random flow of chance you know
Forced to play the game of hearts and shame
I see so many hands that fold as they fade and pass away
Let’s take a walk and analyze perception, if we may
Numbers, odds, risks, and percentages are what we all play
Inter-dependant tasks and hypothetical scenarios are weighed
Perceptions are king of queens that scheme with drastic means
Cold hearts and broken body parts are what I see
All at a price or at least a fee to pay for the pain of fallen dreams
Broken are we so easily
When hope is lost in the things we realize will never be
A tragedy to me in deed

Interesting. I like the comparison of cards, card games and things that along with it to life and how it works.

"Cold hearts and broken body parts are what I see
All at a price or at least a fee to pay for the pain of fallen dreams"

I like those lines a lot. Once I read it again, I liked it even more after I thought about it. Great job!

P.S. I would add some periods in there, to make it more certain where you want your thoughts to end. Unless it is one continuous thought, then never mind. haha
