THIS IS ITA Poem by Yours TrulyAnother Kenyan based poem on our current leadership vis a vis the desired leadershipBig house, big car Beautiful wife, wonderful children Well educated, well fed Thriving business, fortune-five-hundred That’s my M.P.
Shanty house, leaking ceiling Nagging wife, crying children No education, no supper last night Small scale shop, about to be demolished That’s me.
Election time, here you are So charming you are, you’d buy me a car Naïve I am, I give you my vote Just for that fifty-bob note Now that’s me and my M.P.
After the elections and you are gone Through our votes you were known But after that you know none But your sons and those of your clan That’s your nature.
You come back again since five years ago ‘Excuse me sir, where did our promises go?’ You ignore our claims and promise us more More? More? No more! No more empty promises No more lies of paradise No more waiting for nothing for five years No! No! No!
We want a leader who keeps his word Whose word is sure and breaking is hard Whose promises are kept with no negotiation And listens to us with such a passion Now, that’s my leader.
