On Lasting Life

On Lasting Life

A Poem by Auden

If one has seen her
They know of the joy she brings.
Little of the bad,
More than anyone else knows.

But you can not have her
She is mine. I am hers.
Together we laugh, but
Then we are alone.

I do not know her.
She knows me.
Or does she?

Although shorter than your other works, it still sends a message. I like it, and just as the other person to review, I have two relatively different ideas about what this meant.

I had two wildly different interpretations of this piece. Either way, I really enjoyed reading it and the question at the end really does make you think.
