An assignment I had to do for school ^^

Listen
Don't think, don't speak, listen
Listen to the birds' song, cascading through the trees
Listen to the waves caressing the sand
As gentle, and as soft as a lovers touch
Listen to the rain as it crashes down around you
Listen to the thunder,
It's roars, and shrieks of power.
Listen, if you can, to the snow as it falls
Silently it floats and flutters to the ground
Listen to the trees as the wind races through its branches
Listen
Listen
Listen to all the sounds around you
Creating one sound
One harmony
One melody
One heart

Author's Note

This was an assignment I had to do for school.. It took me awhile to write it, and in the end my teacher ended up loving it... I don't see how or why... Can you help me out?

It is a beautiful simile...

Listen, if you can, to the snow as it falls
Silently it floats and flutters to the ground

Again, very elegant lines.... There is an element of tenderness in your verse which makes it very endearing.....

And the poem really carries a nice message.... We must really learn to listen. We end up thinking or talking too much and are generally too wound up with ourselves to really appreciate anything around us... We miss out on so many valuable inputs which can come to us from all sides... There is wisdom flowing everywhere in the world... we just don't listen hard enough...
