Why?A Poem by Childish EccentricityThis is the fate that awaits many of us who do not remain in touch with our inner child and instead choose to 'grow up'.
Born into the world was I
With nothing on my mind Brimming with curiosity To explore all that I saw Slowly I learned to move Learned to explore Learned to question But one day they said "Question no more For this is how it is" Then came another question Why accept it without knowing From whence it came How it came to be? Later as I grew They filled my head With more things everyday But when I question they say "Question no more For this is how it is" Looking ahead I could see So many possibilities So many things to explore But walked ahead when I did I hit iron bars of a cage A cage imposed by man's idleness No matter what I did Through the bars I could not break For all the curiosity I had Smothered it was by inertia Inertia of man to question Inertia of man to explore Inertia of man to know more One day for old time's sake I walked ahead to hit the bars To my absolute horror Only darkness around me I searched and searched But never again did I see The questions and questions To ask I once did seek Isolated for so long Forget did I to question At this moment what I am told I accept without inspection Now when I do see children They question again and again But now their parents Do not answer but say "Question no more For this is how it is." Weep I do for the children I see For I know what fate awaits them To stay in the darkness And wonder for eternity Why did they never answer? Why did they never seek? What happened to me That my curiosity did sleep? 30.03.2016
