The Clarion Call

The Clarion Call

A Poem by ChaosRising
"

The fray welcomes you, but you will not survive.

"
Bask in the sunlight and open your eyes,
Tears streaming down as the warmth of it dies.
There is steel on your skin and steel in your hand,
Your honor is legend, your courage is grand.

Come, my child, and welcome your foe,
Shout back the evil with armies in tow.
Gather the strong, you are righteous and tall,
Charge through the darkness at the Clarion Call.

Blood coats the sand as the veil does part,
The sky she shines through and takes hold of your heart.
All crimes are forgiven, all pasts become one,
Redemption be given and pray by the sun.

Come, my child, may your hatred be raw,
Forget the forgotten and all that you saw.
Glimpse the day and fear that you'll fall,
Charge through the darkness at The Clarion Call.

Shout to the gods to the heavens above,
Know they your pain, your remorse or your love?
To your gods, you cry, for their sake or yours,
Slaughter your doubt and call out your roars.

Come, dear child, you must know your place,
Down with the dogs and with sweat on your face.
Sky looking down and each man so small,
Charge through the darkness at The Clarion Call!

Where are you now? Where do you stray?
How do they walk on your corpse where you lay?
Fields of gold in the dreams of the dead,
No totems of honour where once you had tread.
Enter the fray, you are man and are pawn,
They come to the battle, all at once they are gone!
Your thunderous rage and the ending of life,
You cut every thread that you have with a knife.
Sun beating down, to its light you be thrall?
Or shall you charge through the darkness at the Clarion Call?

I really liked this piece. It so evokes classic hero epics of old. It is brutal and elegant at once. This has immediately become a favorite piece of writing.
Thank you
