Keen

Keen

A Poem by Neva Flores Smith - Changefulstorm
"

An older one of mine written in 20l0 poking fun at myself.......

"

There once was a poetess with a thesaurus

As big as the Adriatic Sea
She hunted down words in her book so absurd
Then tortured the world with these

She wrote lavish poems about simple drivel
Using words unknown to you and me
Inspissating her plots so we would think she was not
The hare-brain her friends knew her to be

A plethora of words she abused along with our minds
As she wrote of the redolent roses
Why could she not say how sweet they smelled
Before she beleaguered all of our noses

Now her poems are a panoply of quintessential bliss
If you have any idea what that means
I surely do not and have no intent of learning
So for now I will say she is keen

This is beautiful, as you are. Through the time of life and the experience, we shall die someday as wise as we can. And grateful. Your writing always inspires me sweet sister. As life is a learning process, in all ways. As long as you write out of your heart, it's most precious, than out of rules. (my opinion) I loved this. X

even funnier the second time around, sometimes we are a bit to serious about our craft, always fun Neva.

I love the concept of introducing the thesaurus as an object in the poem, and then using complex words (that some may need a thesaurus for) Its like a catch 22 a great one! The thing i like the most is that you make an effort to warn the reader that the writer is armed with a thesaurus then you go to town with it (: very very nice! -s

I found this poem amusing because it sounds a lot like how I poke fun at myself. Its always a great trait when you can poke fun at yourself and make something as beautiful as this poem. Another great one.

You write with complexity but in ways that we somehow can understand and create an image in our minds. Yet they twist and turn in extraordinary forms that are always poetic and beautifully written whatever the emotion you try to convey. Always stunning, always inspirational to all writers on WC.

Write your heart out, Neva.
