No Time Like the Present

No Time Like the Present

A Poem by Neva Flores Smith - Changefulstorm
"

For my daughter Amber Nicole.........

"

Call for the most fitting to love you
not one who whispers
in the garden of the sun
to bring showers of night
until day comes no more.
Come as a woman whose days
are filled with perspective
and dreams of golden skies
to quench her thirst
evermore.

If you must go into the forest
where you may not know
who sits and waits to chase the sun
always wait a minute
to see if they are weary.
As whoever does not know
how to listen
for the clearest voice
that calls to begin the race
is the one who meets
all fury.

Sometimes you will hold all you thought lost
when you walk off
into the distance
with your heart beating
as if it has become boxed in.
Always remember
you have more than one night
to find what you think lost
so please do not cry
for what sleeps
within.

Outside of your window
there rages a fire
that is deeply satisfying
if you will open your door
you will no longer remember
your greatest disappointment.
Always call out to where there exists
all that you can find
inside of balance,
no time like the
present.

Reading your writing "always" brings some greater level of understanding to thoughts I did not realize I did not understand. The more eloquent and delicate the truthfulness you share, the more transparent and easy it seems to be to find your meanings...You certainly have gifts beyond all reason...To say this is beautiful falls short of the mark...Simply, thank you...

I had to come back to this a couple of times, to even approach knowing what the hell I was reading. I think that I have it.
Beautiful.
I have launched 2 children into the world. It is like tossing them up and away, like a fledgling bird, seeing their wingbeats grabbing in both desperation and determination, at the air, then they soar, thank you, God.
I read this as the wise words a parent gives her child as she crosses the threshold into adulthood.
As I said, beautiful. Let me add, "so very beautiful."
Have a sweet week...
Brian

Well, this piece takes on new life from you, I have to say. It's wondrous, heartfelt, meaningful, and wise. What more can we ask of you? With your daughter in mind, this piece is all the more special. Eloquent work!

Yes, the present is the greatest gift! (hence the name) How this builds into the true meaning of the writing. It keeps you wondering what exactly am I reading, then it comes, I am reading NOW! What a perfect thought. If I am aware of what is around I may find the great mix of harmony playing together as only one could be...in the present. All other places in time are not it. I really love that idea as I perform and live with it in mind, daily. So did you do a fine job writing this Earthly present tale. Be here now! :)

All that we dream of and want for them--and all the ways they can hurt--how do we teach them to call out? Your work always finds a place in my heart. Hope you are well.

Beautifully written. Advice and wisdom for our daughters is a tough subject. In the end, they will go through what they will go through. I like the way you put it all together though.
I love the sentiment within this piece.
